What do you think this work is about? That is the question for students. It is an historical fiction, written in 1864.

I think it is a fictional story based on some true incidences. I will also take a wild stab in the dark at what the themes could be; war, Kings, history, romance. And the characteristics, civil war, rebellion, England, Hampton Court, Cavaliers, Commons. As well as how the plot may be based; on settings, characters, subject, old, new, and forest; the style also could be formed by adventure, the language of the time and influences during the period.

My Predictions about: Captain Marryat, the Children of the New Forest

There will be acceleration of excitement and words like escape, capture, kill, love, and sward
There will be a description of a new era, rebellious movement, and personal values of spoken content.
Dark scary forest scenes. The word forest will be used a lot.--

I wasn't very on with my predictions. I should have thought about the fact that this story was written for juveniles of the 18th century. I have been told an age group was even more definitive during that time period. It is possible that juvenile was a rating; the adventure plot is also written different than I expected. I think the style as well was meant for the age group. It could also have been common for the narrative to be set on a playtime theme, as it looks like may be the case here. I think this all had to do with the genre of the time period. But it doesn't seem as colorful as my prediction. If I knew how to write well, I may have been able to come up with a whole new story.

The plot would have to be different of course and so would the genre, but it gave me an opportunity to imagine some characteristics for characters. I had to brainstorm styles, beliefs and values to add for excitement and genre which in turn gave me ideas. This could be a good writing tool.

I was right about the word forest as it is in the title. The word old is also used often but I think that is because of the language at that time. Searching through this book shows me a more simplistic version of the story than I imagined. I didn't see war much but I could look further. As for the Hampton Court and the Cavaliers I have yet to find out how those things play in. Still examining with out reading the book.

I can see what is happening in the story when I click on one of the phrases below.

Click each phrase and receive a myriad of information.

Nature's Order: The Model of Concern; Response to Aaron Lester's Problem With Predictions, Harvard Gazette

The Problem With Predictions, Harvard Gazette: “People have always yearned to peer into the future to make sense of what's going to happen”, Said Mathematician-Speaker; David Orell (Aaron Lester, Harvard Correspondent reports) during a Peabody Museum Talk, April 25, 2013. Although Orell’s talk is not recent his subject seems timeless. Turning points can be hard to make and even harder to predict, especially if we aren't looking. Taking the time to do things responsibly is more important everyday. Everybody has been rushing about for such a long time it seems we don't slow down and look. We might notice things do peer back at us. If we take the time to see them. With all the deadlines to meet, bills to pay. What notice did we miss? If we could slow down. Follow the signs. Think about the obstacles, clean up the trip hazards and have the patience and compassion to allow things to fall into place. People may begin to see what will happen. Because of what happens when we do...

A Pound of Prevention

Prevention is worth a pound of cure: Cambridge dictionary: definition of truism. Disease holds an impairing position though. Making up statements to say a lot can sometimes contribute to imposing positions that break an order of activity. The image of the snake biting its own tale gives me the idea of making the same mistakes over and over again. Implementing context for due processes could allow for understanding things in a more responsible manner. Although things can only come around in the order in which they came, we could be hiding from our own compiling tale. If we organize not to, it might be possible not to take the bite so often.   (63) Pinterest Image The pandemic is just another epic tale. Ouch. But let's not pop their balloon.  US News political cartoon display . I know I sound like I am a bit full of hot air myself but I think if we had known how to prevent viruses in the first place we may have also seen a way for a cure. An ounce of prevention is worth a ...

Response to: On the Agenda; Banning Natural Gas from homes By Magan Banta Published Feb 5, 6am Register Guard. Liz Frazier Photo Article We have been working with natural gas for soo long. It is popping up out of the ground and breathing it is not safe but is ignoring it, and how it runs safely, safe? What will happen when there is nowhere for the natural gas to go and it is still flowing in a fossil fuled way. Electricity and heat are made to be regulated and cost money. Do disruptive green house gasses come from disrupting conductivity? Electricity and heat is a need. Warmth is necessary for understanding and working with information. The Natural Gas Act, which was administered by the Federal Power Commission (FPC), extended to the transportation and sale of natural gas by natural gas companies. In 1954 the Supreme Court extended regulation to the prices paid by interstate pipelines to independent natural gas producers. It seems there has been a lot of attention paid to how ...
