A mist the University students passing by "The Pioneer Mother" has been watching, waiting for equality in life and the beautiful future. Her face looks weathered through hardships and grief, while she sits still waiting, wondering, reading, warming minds in front of the "Knight Library" and the "Woman's Memorial Hall" guarding public policy, a permanent part of the landscape.

We all look up to the Pioneer Mother she is almost 18' tall and sits proudly on a pedestal. With her book in hand, she is a symbol that knowledge is key. Her copper casting is weathered and dark but she holds her age of 85 years well.

Our paths lead us, we think, we learn to know and when we don't know, we follow the knowledge and grow. As she sits a rise above a hard dusty Oregon Trail. She waits in hope as we move still forward and by.
Through storms and strong weather, wills' the power for more coming together.
